Prime Minister Balen Shah and Foreign Minister Sisir Khanal Extend Greetings on BIMSTEC's 29th Anniversary

Kathmandu. On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Prime Minister Balen Shah and Foreign Minister Sisir Khanal have issued messages of congratulations and best wishes. 

Prime Minister Balen stated that BIMSTEC is a strong platform that reflects the diversity, vibrancy, and commonality of this region. He also said that it has played an important role in strengthening economic unity and expanding transportation, trade, and digital networks. 

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, emphasizing that BIMSTEC's sustainable strength lies in its people, Prime Minister Balen said that further efforts are needed to promote tourism, create opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs, and develop the capacity to combat climate change and natural disasters.

He also stated that Nepal is committed to working with member states in the areas of disaster and economic prosperity. Foreign Minister Khanal, while praising the continuous progress achieved by BIMSTEC since its establishment in 1997, emphasized the importance of the BIMSTEC Charter in strengthening regional cooperation.

He stressed the need to institutionalize the achievements made so far, strengthen partnerships, and enhance implementation capacity.
