Nepali Congress Leader Prakash Sharan Mahat Stresses Unity and Inclusivity in Party Leadership

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has emphasized that the party's current leadership should move forward by including all sides. Addressing a Bagmati Province-level gathering, he urged the leadership to be more responsible for party unity.

During his address, leader Mahat clarified that they do not want any kind of discord in the party and are always in favor of unity. His argument is that the leadership should not act arbitrarily based solely on the fact that one side has elected them.

He stated that they are engaged in a campaign to strengthen the party as an institution, not as an individual, and urged the workers not to have any doubts. Clarifying that they have no intention of splitting the party, he emphasized that the leadership must set a definite basis for unity and be serious about those bases.

He said, 'We are in favor of party unity and do not want discord to come at any cost. However, the current leadership, elected through a special convention, should not forget its legal and moral responsibility to bring everyone together. It is wrong to move forward with the idea that only what we want will happen and that other leaders-workers who have contributed are meaningless; this will not benefit the party.'

Leader Mahat also emphasized the need to form a 'common mechanism' of consensus to make the 15th General Convention impartial, transparent, and credible.
