Aapi Himal Rural Municipality Closes Schools for Yarsagumba Season

 Darchula. All community schools in Api Himal Rural Municipality will be closed for 15 days from Sunday as the Yarsagumba collection season begins. The rural municipality has decided to close schools as teachers, guardians, and students will go to the lake for Yarsagumba collection.

According to the rural municipality's education branch chief Madanraj Joshi, all community schools operating within the municipality will be closed from Baisakh 27. He informed that the schools are being closed to coincide with the summer holidays. The rural municipality's education branch issued a notice on Friday stating that the closed schools will reopen from Jeth 10.

Approximately 1,100 students study in 22 community schools within Api Himal Rural Municipality. Most of these students go to the Patan area with their parents to collect Yarsagumba and other herbs.

Local residents have already reached the Patan area for Yarsagumba collection since the last week of Baisakh. Local Soban Lothyal said that since good income can be earned in a short time, members of most families go for Yarsagumba collection.

As the Yarsa season begins, residents of Marma, Naugad, and Byas rural municipalities in the district have also climbed towards the lake. Locals said that some village houses are locked.

In the district, the largest collections have reached areas such as Lolu, Ringdepani, Satganga, Kalidunga, Katai, Ghattethola, Dharamghar, Kshati, and Chaimatel in the Api Himal region.
