Iran's Armed Forces Secure and Monitor Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Army Spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia stated on Saturday that the country's armed forces are securing and monitoring the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the movement of ships through this important sea route will be based on the coordination and approval of Iranian authorities. He mentioned that the management of the Strait of Hormuz falls within Iran's jurisdiction and that necessary security measures have been adopted considering the current situation. Furthermore, he informed that Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and the national army are jointly monitoring and managing security in the area.

Meanwhile, the Fars News Agency, quoting Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hamid Ghanbari, reported that various countries are requesting Iran through diplomatic channels to ensure the safe passage of their ships. Iran has further tightened security in the area since February 28 due to some special circumstances. This decision is seen in relation to regional developments. The Strait of Hormuz is considered a very important route for global energy supply and international trade. Therefore, the international community is closely observing the activities taking place in this region.
