Buddha Jayanti Celebrated in Portugal

Lisbon. The 2570th birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha, the pioneer of world peace, has been celebrated in the European country of Portugal.

The Buddha Jayanti was celebrated with a special program in the capital Lisbon on Friday, organized by the Nepal Indigenous Peoples' Federation Portugal.

In the program organized at the Jinacio Club hall in Anjos, Lisbon, Buddhist monks performed special puja-worship of Buddha, and participants were guided through group meditation. Similarly, Buddhist monk Phuri Sherpa gave a sermon on Buddha and Buddha's knowledge, philosophy, and teachings.

On the occasion, Nepali Ambassador to Portugal Prakashmani Poudel, wishing a happy Buddha Jayanti, said that Buddha's knowledge and teachings are invaluable for humanity. He emphasized the need to follow Buddha's inspiring teachings and guidance in practical life and walk on the path of good deeds.

The Federation's President Chopkumar Rana Magar said that the Buddha Jayanti was celebrated with a special program with the aim of spreading Buddha's messages of peace, compassion, and friendship and propagating Buddha, wishing for world peace. He also expressed gratitude to all the supporters who helped make Buddha Jayanti a success.
