Press Club UK Branch Adds 9 Advisors, Plans 15th Anniversary Celebration

London. Nepal Press Union UK Branch has decided to add 9 advisors to the organization and grandly celebrate the 15th anniversary and annual celebration program on July 10. The virtual meeting held on June 16, 2026, made important decisions regarding the branch's upcoming programs, advisor selection, membership expansion, and various institutional matters. The meeting was chaired by the branch's president, Vimla Sen. The review of the interaction program with the Nepali community held in Wales on June 6 was discussed in the meeting. The meeting concluded that the program was very successful, historic, and memorable. Mentioning that positive feedback was received from the community, it was decided to continue such programs in the future. It has been agreed to organize interaction programs with the community and journalism-related programs in other places in the UK. Similarly, detailed discussions were held regarding the preparation of the 15th anniversary and annual celebration program to be organized on July 10, 2026. Program coordinator and senior vice-president Narendra Basnet and co-coordinator vice-president Pramila Labung Rai informed the meeting about the preparations made so far. Coordinator Basnet informed that efforts are being made to contact those who are not currently in contact and those outside the UK, as there is a program to honor the founders at the anniversary celebration. He has requested to provide information if anyone is contacted. The meeting emphasized the need for active participation of all office bearers and members to make the program successful, organized, and grand. It was also decided to make collective efforts to manage finances and raise sponsorships. The responsibility of inviting guests through correspondence has been given to the General Secretary and two Secretaries, Biswashdeep Tigela and Manju Bhandari. Similarly, the meeting has selected senior journalist Bhagirath Yogi, former president Chiranjibi Sharma, Shyam Luintel, Dinesh Pariyar, Purna Gurung, Kushal Shrestha, Prajay Shukla, Naresh Kangmang Rai, and Jayaram Tamang as advisors. Earlier, founding president Navin Pokharel and former presidents Naresh Khapangimagar and Dhurbaraj Aryal had already been selected as advisors. Furthermore, the meeting discussed the matter of opening new memberships. It was decided to arrange for interested individuals to apply, manage fees for those who have missed out, not received membership, or applied for transfer, and to form a committee shortly after the 15th anniversary to study this matter further. It has been stated that the final decision regarding membership will be made at the next meeting. Under various agendas, the meeting congratulated and wished Secretary Manju Bhandari Kharel on her election to the post of President of the Gulmi District Society UK. Similarly, a condolence motion was passed expressing deep sorrow over the demise of the father of executive committee member Narendra Nemwang. The meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed condolences to the bereaved family. Nepal Press Union UK Branch has taken the upcoming anniversary as an opportunity to strengthen institutional unity, contribution to the field of journalism, and the relationship with the Nepali community in the UK. With the decision to select advisors, expand membership, and continue community-oriented programs, the Union UK has signaled to intensify and organize its future activities.
