Buddha Jayanti Celebrated in Portugal

Lisbon. The 2570th birth anniversary of Lord Gautam Buddha, the pioneer of world peace, will be celebrated with a special program in Portugal.

The Buddha Jayanti will be celebrated with a special program on May 1 (Friday) in the capital Lisbon, organized by the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Portugal. On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, special worship and veneration of Buddha will be held at the Ginásio Clube hall in Anjos, Lisbon, and Buddhist monks will also conduct meditation and sermons.

Chopkumar Rana Magar, president of the Federation, informed that the Buddha Jayanti is being celebrated with a special program with the aim of spreading Buddha's messages of peace, compassion, and friendship, and promoting Buddha and the birthplace of Buddha. President Rana Magar has also urged the Nepali community in Portugal to participate in the program and make the Buddha Jayanti a grand success.

Buddha Jayanti has been celebrated every year in Portugal in coordination with the Nepali organizations active here.
