Kathmandu Metropolitan City Launches Demolition Drive in Gairigaun Squatter Settlement

Kathmandu. A bulldozer operation has been launched in the squatter settlement of Gairigaun, located on the banks of the Bagmati River in Ward-9 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Previously, the government had deployed bulldozers to demolish all makeshift huts in the squatter settlement at Thapathali.

The team, accompanied by police, arrived in Gairigaun directly from Thapathali. Compared to Thapathali, the settlement in Gairigaun consists of larger and more permanent structures. A total of 6 heavy machines, including 2 bulldozers from the Metropolitan City and 4 excavators from the Department of Roads, are being utilized in the operation.
