Nepali Taekwondo Team Departs for 22nd WATA Open in Osaka

Kathmandu. A four-member team of athletes has departed for Osaka, Japan, to represent Nepal at the 22nd WATA Open International Taekwondo Championship. The team, set to compete in the prestigious tournament held at the Ohama Arena from April 24 to 26, was given a grand farewell by Nepal Taekwondo Association General Secretary Hemant Dangi and National Sports Council Board Member Kumar Lama Ghising.

During a special program held at Nepali Ghar, the team was presented with sports uniforms and the national flag, along with best wishes for their success. The athletes participating in the tournament include Aravi Gyawali, a student at Little Bud School, who will compete in the Under-9 female individual poomsae category.

Similarly, Bishesh Chandra Gami from Hog Au Taekwondo Dojang and Shreyan Karki from Gongbu Taekwondo Dojang will compete in the Under-11 male individual poomsae. In the kyorugi category, Ayusha Karki will represent Nepal in the 49kg women's group.

The team is led by head coach Saroj Tamang, who is affiliated with various educational institutions including Gongbu Taekwondo Dojang, Little Bud School, and Shangri-La School. Rushma Subedi has been assigned the responsibility of team manager.
