Gagan Thapa Emphasizes Strengthening Democracy and Bridging the Gap Between Expectations and Achievements

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa has emphasized that the achievements gained through democratic struggles should not be limited to the pages of history but must be implemented in a way that is felt in daily life. 

In a message of greetings on the occasion of Democracy Day, General Secretary Thapa paid tribute to the great martyrs who sacrificed their lives for people's rights and democracy. He stated that it is everyone's shared responsibility to create a system where the public can experience these achievements in their own lives.

Expressing concern over the growing gap between public expectations and achievements in the current times, Thapa said, 'The reality today is that there are complaints about the inability to bridge the gap between expectations and achievements. However, the solution is not an alternative to democracy, but a more robust, accountable, and people-oriented democracy.'

Thapa stated that the main necessity today is to win the public's trust through good governance and development by putting the spirit of the constitution into practice. Emphasizing the need to make democracy more responsible and people-oriented, he also extended his best wishes to all citizens on Democracy Day.
