Missing youth found dead in Mahakali River

Dhangadhi. A youth who went missing while swimming in the Mahakali River in Kanchanpur has been found dead. The Armed Police Force's diving team recovered his body on Wednesday afternoon.

25-year-old Manish Kunwar from Sanfebagar Municipality-9, Budhakot, Achham, went missing while swimming in the Mahakali River in Bhimdutta Municipality-11 on Tuesday evening. He was located by the diving team deployed from the Armed Police Force's Number 35 Battalion, Shaileshwari.

Kunwar was an eighth-semester law student at Sudurpashchim University. He had gone to the river to swim with friends on Tuesday evening when he suddenly drowned and went missing.

According to SP Khadga Bahadur Khatri of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, local residents and security personnel began search operations immediately after he went missing. Police stated that the search continued from yesterday evening until the diving team recovered his body today.

The police have confirmed that the body has been sent to the hospital for a post-mortem, and further investigation into the incident is underway.
