Tilak Varma hits third century of IPL 2026 season

New Delhi. Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma has scored the third century of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Playing a crucial role in Mumbai's victory against Gujarat Titans on Monday night, Tilak became the third player to hit a century this season. 

Previously, only Sanju Samson and Quinton de Kock had achieved this feat. However, despite scoring a century, Tilak remains far behind in the race for the Orange Cap. He currently has 144 runs to his name, while the top-ranked batter has already scored 283 runs.

Following Monday's match, Heinrich Klaasen maintains his lead in the Orange Cap standings for the highest run-scorer. Sunrisers Hyderabad's Klaasen is at the top with 283 runs. 

Although Gujarat captain Shubman Gill could only score 14 runs against Mumbai, he remains in second place with 265 runs, trailing Klaasen. Similarly, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengaluru is in third place, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals and Rajat Patidar of Bengaluru are in fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

Within the top 10 of the Orange Cap, Cooper Connolly of Punjab Kings and Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan are in sixth and seventh places with 223 runs each. They are followed by Ishan Kishan of Hyderabad, and Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh of Punjab. 

In the bowling department, the race for the Purple Cap sees Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings securely in the top spot with 13 wickets. He is being closely challenged by Gujarat's Prasidh Krishna with 12 wickets. 

Gujarat's Kagiso Rabada, who took 3 wickets for 33 runs against Mumbai on Monday, has also brought his wicket tally to 10. Along with Rabada, Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Bengaluru and Ravi Bishnoi of Rajasthan have also entered the top 10 competition with 10 wickets each. 

Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants has also managed to secure a spot within the top three.
