Pushpa Lal Memorial Day Observed

Kathmandu. The 48th memorial day of Pushpa Lal, the founding general secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), is being observed today with various programs.

CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party, and other communist parties are celebrating the day with various programs.

Born on Asar 15, 1981 BS as the second son of father Bhakta Lal and mother Tulsi Kumari in Ramechhap, Pushpa Lal advanced CPN activities while living abroad. He is the brother of martyr Ganga Lal.

Pushpa Lal translated the 'Communist Manifesto' written by Karl Marx and Frederick Engels into Nepali for the first time and analyzed the classes of Nepali society through various works and writings.

In Baishakh 2006, along with Niranjan Govinda Vaidya, Narayan Vilas Joshi, Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, and Moti Devi Shakya, he founded the CPN in Kolkata, India.

Before founding the CPN, in 1998 BS, he formed the Nepali Democratic Association along with Prem Bahadur Kansakar, Shambhu Ram Shrestha, Surya Bahadur Bhardwaj, and Ramraja.

He held the view that the Panchayat system should be defeated by conducting a joint people's movement with democratic forces including the Nepali Congress. He passed away on Shrawan 7, 2035 in New Delhi, India, during treatment.

On the occasion of the memorial day, the CPN (UML) Kathmandu Province Committee has organized a program today. Similarly, the Nepali Communist Party and others have also stated that they have organized various programs on the occasion of the memorial day.
