Iran Threatens Retaliation After US Navy Seizes Vessel Near Strait of Hormuz

Kathmandu. Tensions in West Asia continue to escalate. Following reports that the US Navy seized an Iranian-flagged vessel near the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has warned that it will take necessary action against the United States.

According to Iranian state media, Tehran views this incident as an act of open aggression. The Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that the Iranian military is prepared to deliver a decisive response.

The report noted that there are limitations to an immediate counter-attack due to the presence of crew members' families on board the vessel, signaling that the safety of the crew and their families remains a priority.

“In the current situation, once the safety of the families and crew on board is ensured, the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will take the necessary steps against the US military,” Tasnim reported.

This incident has further heightened tensions in an already volatile region. The US Navy seized the Iranian cargo ship on Sunday.

It was reported that the vessel was attempting to pass through the strait in violation of US sanctions. Following this incident, Iran has withdrawn from the second round of ceasefire talks scheduled for this week.
