RPP Dissident Faction Urges Senior Leaders to Expedite General Convention

Kathmandu. With internal strife intensifying within the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), the dissident faction has appealed to the party's senior guardian leaders to create an environment for holding the general convention by Jestha. On Sunday, a delegation led by General Secretary Dr. Dhabal Shumsher Rana visited the residence of former chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana at Bijayabas to hold a collective meeting with senior leaders.

The meeting was attended by former chairmen Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, and Kamal Thapa, along with senior leaders Navaraj Subedi and Hari Bahadur Basnet. The dissatisfied faction has demanded that the general convention be ensured by Jestha as per the central committee's decision and that an organizing committee be formed under the coordination of an impartial individual.

General Secretary Dr. Rana emphasized the need to immediately announce the date for the general convention to resolve the uncertainty within the party. The faction claims that since conventions have already been completed in 27 districts, there are no technical obstacles to holding the central convention in Jestha. They argue that a change in leadership is the only option to inspire discouraged cadres following electoral failures and to inject new energy into the party.

According to leader Sagun Sundar Lawati, the demand has been made for guardian leaders to take concrete initiatives to end the current deadlock within the party. After hearing the concerns of the dissident faction, the former chairmen have begun internal discussions to take the matter seriously and find a resolution.
