Japanese Ambassador expresses happiness on conduction of civic polls
Biratnagar - Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Masashi Ogawa has expressed happiness over almost completion of local level elections in Nepal after around two decades.
At a programme organized here today by the Biratnagar Metropolitan City, he expressed confidence that the promulgation of the new constitution would augur well for the development of country and livelihood of the people.
Noting that Nepal and Japan have shared close and friendly relations since long, Japanese Ambassador Ogawa shared his thought to do something important for the advancement of Nepal's second biggest city, Biratnagar.
Biratnagar Mayor Bhim Parajuli highlighted the cultural relations between Nepal and Japan, and also called for Japanese cooperation to resolve the problem of drinking water.
Highlighting the development status, Executive Officer of Biratnagar Metropolis Deepak Koirala shared that still 40 per cent population of the historical city are consuming water of hand pump.
He also called for the assistance of the Japanese government for the development works including laying of drinking water pipes while presenting that there has been the pipes which was paved 100 years ago.
Lawmaker Dr Narayan Khadka shared that Japan has played a role of prominent partner for Nepal's development and Japan never has shown concern on the domestic affairs of Nepal but only the prosperity and development.
