Butwal to Host Local Skills, Arts, and Products Exhibition 2083

Butwal. With the objective of preserving, promoting, and marketing local skills, arts, and products, the "Local Skills, Arts, and Products Exhibition-2083" is set to be organized in Butwal.

Marking World Heritage Day, the organizers announced that the exhibition will commence on Baisakh 5 under the slogan "Knowledge of our generation, pride of our nation—preserving local skills and arts is our mission."

The exhibition, conducted in collaboration with Janautthan Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, the Local Handicraft and Heritage Foundation Nepal, and Khasauli Bazaar, will be held at the old film hall premises near Traffic Chowk, Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-6, Rupandehi district.

The event will feature live demonstrations of local skills, approximately 50 stalls for handicrafts and local products, traditional food items, processions, and cultural performances.

Program coordinator Revanta Bahadur Bishwakarma stated that the exhibition is expected to help preserve endangered skills, expand market access for local products, raise awareness about cultural heritage, and contribute to employment and income generation.

At the press conference, Dr. Man Bahadur BK, Chairman of the Local Handicraft and Heritage Foundation Nepal, claimed that this exhibition is a new and first-of-its-kind initiative in Nepal to be held on the occasion of an international day. He emphasized that traditional indigenous products contribute to the country's economy, and therefore, special attention must be paid to their preservation and market expansion.

Similarly, Khasauli Bazaar Director Sumundra Ghimire noted the significance of local products and informed that free stalls would be provided to producers at the fair. He mentioned that stall registration is open until Baisakh 3 and expressed confidence that the exhibition would serve as a bridge between producers and consumers.
