Chinese President Xi Jinping Proposes Four-Point Plan for Peace in West Asia

Kathmandu. Chinese President Xi Jinping has put forward four proposals to establish peace amidst the deteriorating security situation in West Asia.

He made his detailed position public for the first time in the context of the region remaining tense for about six weeks following attacks by the US and Israel on Iran.

During a meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed in Beijing, Xi emphasized that the world must not be allowed to return to the "law of the jungle." He also mentioned that both sides exchanged views on the current situation in the Gulf region.

According to Chinese state media, Xi reiterated China's policy of standing for peace, dialogue, and stability, stating that it will continue to play a "constructive role" in the future. Until now, China had primarily expressed its response to this conflict through diplomats.

The four proposals presented by Xi are aimed at establishing long-term peace in West Asia. He stated that the principle of peaceful coexistence must be maintained among nations.

He also emphasized the need to build a sustainable and balanced security structure. This concept is often seen as China's criticism of the US alliance system. Xi stated that international law must be fully complied with and should not be applied selectively. This view is also often linked to China's criticism of US policy.

"The authority of international law must be upheld. It should not be used when necessary and discarded when inconvenient. The world must not be allowed to return to the 'law of the jungle'," Xi said.

He also emphasized the need to protect the sovereignty, security, and institutional structures of all countries. Additionally, he pointed out the necessity of moving forward while maintaining a balance between security and development.

Amidst the rising tension in West Asia, China is attempting to present itself as a power favoring peace and dialogue, and these proposals by Xi are considered a continuation of that effort.
