Former Chairman of Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi Calls for 2083 to be a Year of Good Governance

Kathmandu. Former Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Khil Raj Regmi, has emphasized that the New Year 2083 should be observed as a 'base year' for eradicating corruption, promoting good governance, and enhancing the effectiveness of public service delivery. In his New Year greeting message, he expressed his belief that the upcoming year would be established as a special year for the progress and prosperity of all Nepalis.

He noted that despite repeated revolutions and movements for democracy and civil rights in Nepal's political history, the issue of good governance has remained limited to paper. Former Chairman Regmi stated, "The issues of corruption control and good governance have always remained in commitments but have never been meaningful in practice." He expressed the view that the time has come for result-oriented work rather than mere rhetoric.

Highlighting that the 'Gen-Z' movement has provided key guidance on corruption control and good governance, he clarified that it is everyone's duty to move forward in accordance with the sacrifices and sentiments of the protesters. Regmi, who is also a former Chief Justice, expressed satisfaction, noting that the government's current working style is moving in a positive direction.

Reminding that good governance is the rule of law, he expressed hope that the New Year would fill everyone with new enthusiasm and joy. Wishing everyone a prosperous year, he expressed his hope that this year would prove to be a milestone for nation-building and the advancement of all Nepalis.
