Gujarat Titans Secure Second Consecutive Win in IPL 2026

Kathmandu. Gujarat Titans have continued their momentum in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, registering their second consecutive victory. In the first match held on Sunday, Gujarat defeated the home team Lucknow Super Giants by a wide margin of 7 wickets to secure crucial points.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, the hosts posted a moderate total of 164 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. While Aiden Markram contributed a team-high 30 runs for Lucknow, other batters failed to build significant innings.

Prasidh Krishna was particularly aggressive in Gujarat's bowling attack. He dismantled the opposition's batting lineup by dismissing key players such as Aiden Markram, Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, and Mukul Chaudhary. Krishna claimed 4 wickets, while Ashok Sharma took 2. Similarly, Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada each took 1 wicket to help restrict Lucknow to a modest total.

Chasing a target of 165 runs, Gujarat had a steady start and performed excellently in the middle order. After losing Sai Sudharsan at 45 runs, having scored 52 in the powerplay, captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler stabilized the innings. These two experienced batters ensured the team's victory with a strong 84-run partnership off 58 balls. Gill scored 56 runs and Buttler added 60. With both scoring half-centuries, Gujarat reached the target in 18.4 overs, losing only 3 wickets.

Washington Sundar remained unbeaten on 21 runs, and Rahul Tewatia scored 10 runs to guide the team to the target.
