Nepali Congress to Elect Parliamentary Party Leader on Baisakh 4

Kathmandu. The process to elect the Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader is set to begin on Baisakh 2. Joint General Secretary Prakash Snehi Rasaili, who has been appointed as the coordinator of the election committee, stated that they are preparing to initiate the process on Baisakh 2 and hold the election on Baisakh 4.

'We will hold a meeting on Baisakh 2 to begin the process for the parliamentary party leader election,' Rasaili told Ratopati. 'We will conduct the election on the 4th.'

Rasaili mentioned that Baisakh 3 will be set aside to attempt a consensus. Snehi stated that they are aiming to initiate the process and seek a unanimous decision, but if that fails, they are prepared to elect the leader through a vote.

The Nepali Congress has 18 members elected through the first-past-the-post system and 20 through the proportional representation system in the House of Representatives.

Four leaders have expressed interest in leading the 38 lawmakers. According to party sources, Arjun Narsingh KC, Bhishma Raj Aangdembe, Mohan Acharya, and Bharat Bahadur Khadka have shown interest. KC and Aangdembe have publicly declared their candidacy for the position.

Central committee member Muna Bhusal and advocate Raju Katwal are members of the election committee tasked with selecting the parliamentary party leader.
