Nepal Police Arrest 17 in Nationwide Anti-Drug Operations

Kathmandu. Police have apprehended 17 individuals across various locations in the country with large quantities of illegal narcotics. Operations conducted from Nawalparasi West to Dhangadhi resulted in the seizure of marijuana, brown sugar, brown heroin, and controlled pharmaceutical drugs.

Those arrested range from a 60-year-old woman to various youths. Police discovered these prohibited items following special intelligence reports during searches of homes and vehicles.

• In Nawalparasi West, Sunwal Municipality-2, police arrested 60-year-old Beli Baniya on Friday night with approximately 18.688 kg of marijuana found during a house search.
• In Lalitpur, Godawari Municipality-5, three individuals—Kiran Kumar Pariyar (40), Nirmal Ghalan (31), and Raj Kumar Sundas (59)—were arrested Friday night with about 30 kg of marijuana.
• In Sunsari, Inaruwa Municipality-4, 24-year-old Sushan Thakur was arrested Friday evening with 1.97 grams of a substance resembling brown sugar.
• In Banke, Kohalpur Municipality-6, 24-year-old Pawan Kumar KC was arrested Friday afternoon with 188 tablets of Tramadol and 178 tablets of Nitrazepam.
• In Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-15, Banke, two individuals, Samir Gharti (26) and Ramesh Gandarb (26), were arrested Friday afternoon with 20 tablets of Tramadol and 50 tablets of Nitrazepam.
• In Siraha, Sukhipur Municipality-8, 23-year-old Sushil Kumar Chaudhary was arrested Friday afternoon with approximately 990 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar.
• In Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Kailali, three individuals—Abhishek Sharma (21), Dev Sharma (20), and Sanjiv Rijal (27)—were arrested Friday afternoon with 130 milligrams of a substance resembling brown sugar and 6 tablets of Spasmo.
• In Kawasoti Municipality-1, Nawalparasi East, two individuals, Sunil BK (24) and Anil Sunar (23), were arrested Friday afternoon with 63 tablets of Tramadol and 66 tablets of Anargan.
• In Sindhuli, Kamalamai Municipality-9, three individuals—Udit Narayan Raya Amat (24), Padam Bahadur Jogi (37), and Nikas Ale (24)—were arrested Saturday afternoon with 47 grams of a substance resembling brown heroin while traveling on public transport toward Kathmandu.

Police are currently conducting further investigations into these cases.
