Karnali Chief Minister Kandel Highlights Challenges in Federalism Implementation

Surkhet. Karnali Province Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel has stated that the implementation of federalism remains challenging. Speaking at a program organized here today to mark the eighth anniversary of the Office of the Chief Attorney of Karnali Province, he expressed concerns over the difficulties in exercising the constitutional rights of provincial and local governments.

He described this as a challenge to the effective implementation of federalism. He complained that the traditional and centralized mindset of the new government toward provincial and local levels has created various complexities in the operation of both tiers of government. He noted that even a decade after the implementation of the constitution, federalism has not been effectively executed in accordance with public aspirations.
