Ginger Farming Generates Over 55 Million Rupees in Revenue for Rukum West Farmers

Rukum West. Triveni Rural Municipality in Rukum West has generated 55,650,000 rupees from ginger sales alone this year. This amount was earned from the ginger produced by 2,650 farmers across the municipality.

According to Ain Bahadur Karki, head of the Triveni Rural Municipality Agriculture Branch, 15,900 quintals of ginger were produced in the municipality this year. Among the 2,650 households engaged in ginger farming, each farmer cultivates ginger on approximately two ropanis of land. Ginger is being produced on 5,300 ropanis of land across the municipality. He stated that about three quintals of ginger are produced per ropani of land.

Branch head Karki mentioned that each farmer sold ginger at 3,500 rupees per quintal directly from the village. Traders have been coming to the village to purchase the ginger. Nare Khadka, a commercial ginger farmer from Triveni-4, Khumcheri, stated that he earned 100,000 rupees from ginger sales this year.

He has been continuously involved in ginger farming for the past 22 years. He noted that he has set aside three and a half quintals of this year's production for seeds.
