Department of Money Laundering Investigation Seeks Arrest Warrant for Sher Bahadur Deuba and Arzu Rana

Kathmandu. A letter has surfaced revealing that the Department of Money Laundering Investigation requested an arrest warrant from the Kathmandu District Court against former Prime Minister and outgoing Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife, former Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana, on Chaitra 23.

The request for the arrest of the couple for investigation into money laundering offenses was signed by the department's investigation officer, Dhruvaraj Sharma.

The letter states, 'In the course of investigating money laundering offenses, as it is necessary to arrest former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, a resident of Ganyapdhura Rural Municipality Ward No. 2, Dadeldhura, currently residing in Budhanilkantha Municipality Ward No. 2, Kathmandu, and his wife, we respectfully request permission to arrest them for investigation under Section 9, Sub-sections (2) and (4) of the National Criminal Procedure Code, 2074, Section 15A of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2064, and Section 16, Sub-section (1), Clause (c) of the same Act.'
