RSP Lawmaker Samina Miya Urges Government to Prioritize Road Safety Measures

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Samina Miya has drawn the government's attention to the urgent need for road safety improvements. Speaking during the emergency session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Miya highlighted that thousands of citizens lose their lives in road accidents annually and urged the government to initiate immediate safety reforms.

She expressed deep sorrow over the motorcycle accident on the Jaleshwar-Bardibas road section, which claimed the lives of three individuals who were returning home after taking their SEE examinations with dreams of a bright future.

She emphasized that to prevent such incidents in the future, special attention must be paid to installing speed control signage on high-risk road sections and ensuring timely road maintenance.

She also demanded strict enforcement of traffic rules, the implementation of awareness programs for youth and students, and the introduction of mandatory road safety education at the school level.

Miya further advocated for improvements in emergency rescue systems, ensuring rapid response and immediate medical care following accidents. She stated that if serious and timely improvements are not made, such tragedies will continue to recur, and all stakeholders must act responsibly.
