Kaligandaki Corridor Road Section Faces Delays, Affecting Travelers and Tourists

Baglung. Passengers are facing problems due to the non-blacktopping of the Maldhunga-Baleva section under the national pride project Kaligandaki Corridor on time.

Out of the 34 kilometers falling in the Baglung section of the corridor, 24 kilometers have been blacktopped, but the remaining 10 kilometers have not yet been blacktopped. Tourists going to Muktinath, including South Baglung, have been affected due to the road not being upgraded due to the delay of the construction company.

An agreement was made with the construction company five years ago to blacktop the said road within two years. Although the deadline was extended again in last June, the general public is angry about the lack of work.

Engineer Homnath Poudel of the Kaligandaki Corridor Project Office warned that action would be taken if the work is not completed within the current financial year. The contract for blacktopping the said section was made for Rs. 48,12,56,523.

Construction entrepreneur Dinbandhu Kafle admitted that the work has not gained momentum due to lack of budget. He expressed his commitment to complete the construction within the stipulated time by mobilizing adequate workers and equipment.
