Chief of Army Staff Sigdel Emphasizes Nepali Army's Role in National Unity

Tanahun. Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel has stated that the Nepali Army is always at the forefront of maintaining national unity.

Speaking at the Ex-Servicemen's Conference held in Tanahun today, he noted that the Nepali Army has made unparalleled contributions throughout history to the protection of the country's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, autonomy, and national unity.

Chief of Army Staff Sigdel emphasized that the Nepali Army must be developed into an institution capable of facing current and future challenges while upholding its historical traditions.

He stated that the role played by the army in defending the country's sovereignty, as well as in internal security, development, disaster management, and international peacekeeping, has established the Nepali Army as a credible and respected institution both at home and abroad.

Chief of Army Staff Sigdel mentioned that the Nepali Army Welfare Board has been building and expanding networks to bring beneficiaries under one roof. He noted that challenges to the operation and sustainability of welfare programs have increased due to the contraction and slowdown in the overall economic sector, which has added pressure on the banking sector, led to a decline in interest income from fixed deposits, and resulted in a reduction in the number of troops deployed for peacekeeping missions.
