NEPSE index dips slightly as trading volume drops to 6.73 billion rupees

Kathmandu. On Tuesday, the third trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index saw a minor decline. After a volatile session, the market closed at 2757.40 points, down by 2.61 points.

On this day, a total of 17.4 million shares of 345 companies were traded through 81,582 transactions, amounting to 6.73 billion rupees. The trading volume has dropped significantly compared to the 10 billion rupees recorded on the previous day. 

Today, all sector indices declined except for Banking, Hotel, Hydropower, and Others. 

In total, the share prices of 175 companies fell, while 82 companies saw an increase. The share prices of 12 companies remained stable.

Despite the market downturn, investors in some hydropower and other companies saw significant gains. The share prices of Bhujung, Super Khudi, and Swetganga Hydropower rose by 10 percent, hitting a positive circuit. 

Similarly, the prices of Ridge Energy, Suryakunda Hydro, and Hotel Forest Inn also rose near circuit levels. Overall, despite the market decline, no scrips saw a drop of more than five percent, except for NIBL Growth Fund. 

In terms of transaction value, Ngadi Group Power led the market today, with shares worth 242.26 million rupees traded. Likewise, Reliance Spinning Mills with 242.1 million rupees and Aankhu Khola Hydropower with 235.7 million rupees were among the top companies by turnover.
