Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle Positive on Increasing Staff Allowances and Field Visit Allowances for MPs

Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has stated that the government is positive about increasing the salaries of MPs' personal secretaries and making field visit allowances timely. 

Speaking at a meeting of the Finance Committee under the House of Representatives on Friday, he said that the government is liberal regarding the salaries and other facilities of personal secretaries. 

He mentioned that the government is not negative about making the allowances and other facilities provided during field visits timely by completing the necessary laws and procedures. Speaking about the service and facilities of MPs' aides and staff, Finance Minister Wagle said, 'Now, regarding the salary increase, we are being liberal on all matters, from the personal secretary of every MP.'

He added, 'In that sense, we are not negative about making things like field visit allowances timely by completing the procedures.'

• Indication of Flexibility in Nepal Rastra Bank Act Amendment

Finance Minister Wagle also stated that the government is ready to resolve the issues related to the proposed amendment of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act through healthy and legal discussions. He clarified that the government will not be rigid on matters such as the structure of the Rastra Bank and the appointment of its officials.

According to him, the number of members in the Rastra Bank's board of directors can be openly discussed. Minister Wagle also expressed his views on the amendment proposals regarding the appointment and number of Deputy Governors. He informed that a conclusion can be reached through legal discussions on whether the Deputy Governor can be brought from outside or remain internal.
