CPN-UML Acting Chair Thapa Summons Leaders Amid Calls for Leadership Change

Kathmandu. Acting Chairman of the CPN-UML, Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal', has summoned leaders who have launched a signature campaign demanding a change in leadership and a special general convention for discussions.

According to Kamal Joshi, Deputy General Secretary of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), leader Thapa has called them to the party office in Chyasal at 3:00 PM on Tuesday.

'We have received a message to come for a discussion,' said Joshi. 'I have heard that those who launched the signature campaign demanding a special general convention have been summoned.'

Gajendra Thapaliya, President of the Nepal Intellectual Council affiliated with the UML, who is involved in the signature campaign, also confirmed that they have been called to Chyasal at 3:00 PM.

Following the party's poor performance in the last election, UML youth, students, and intellectuals have been advocating for the formation of a new, timely leadership.

They have also been suggesting that an alternative to Chairman Oli must be sought.
