IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians Face Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati Clash

The Indian Premier League (IPL) features a showdown between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. The match will be held at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, starting at 7:45 PM.

For Mumbai, the biggest concern remains the fitness of captain Hardik Pandya, who missed the previous game due to illness. Meanwhile, Rajasthan enters the field looking to maintain the winning momentum from their opening matches.

The rivalry between these two teams in the IPL is nearly balanced. They have faced each other 30 times, with Mumbai winning 16 and Rajasthan winning 14. Last season, they met only once, where Mumbai secured a massive 100-run victory.

• Pandya likely to return, starts net practice

Mumbai felt the absence of Hardik Pandya in their previous loss to Delhi Capitals, where the team suffered a 6-wicket defeat. Suryakumar Yadav led the side in his absence. 

Pandya has reached Guwahati with the team and has begun net practice. South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch, who replaced the experienced Trent Boult in the last game, proved to be quite expensive.

The form of the bowlers has become a concern for Mumbai Indians. Jasprit Bumrah remains the team's most economical bowler, but he has yet to take a wicket this season.

In the spin department, Mitchell Santner has proven his utility over Afghan spinner Allah Ghazanfar and is likely to play again. • Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer is not the same bowler he was between 2018 and 2020, when he could swing the ball at will in the IPL. However, he remains Rajasthan's most dangerous bowler. 

Against Gujarat Titans, he showed glimpses of his old dangerous death-over form by bowling yorkers and targeting the batter's ribs. How Mumbai plays Archer's overs will determine the direction of their innings.

• Mayank Markande

On the other hand, Mayank Markande has played both games for Mumbai so far. Mumbai has been using him as an extra spinner alongside AM Ghazanfar and then Mitchell Santner.

However, Markande has not been able to take a wicket yet and is conceding exactly two runs per ball. If he gets a chance in today's game, he will look to make a significant impact, especially in the middle overs.
