One injured in police firing during drug bust in Rupandehi

Butwal. One person was injured last night after police opened fire during a drug control operation in Rupandehi. The injured has been identified as Bishal Yadav of Rohini Rural Municipality-2, Khurhuria. Police stated that he sustained a gunshot wound to his left calf and is currently undergoing treatment at Bhim Hospital in Bhairahawa.

According to the District Police Office, Rupandehi, police attempted to stop three individuals riding a motorcycle with the registration number UP56F 9901 following a tip-off about drug trafficking in Rohini Rural Municipality-4, Kotahawa. When they attempted to flee, the police pursued them.

Police reported that after the individuals fell from the motorcycle while trying to escape and began throwing stones at the officers, the police fired one warning shot into the air followed by two additional rounds. Yadav was injured during this incident.

Police have arrested Bishal Yadav along with 18-year-old Arun Kumar and 20-year-old Binay Pandey from Bisunpurwa, Parsamalik village, Maharajganj, India.

District Police Office, Rupandehi DSP Krishna Kumar Chand stated that 1,100 ampoules of Phenergan, 1,100 ampoules of Diazepam, and 1,100 ampoules of Brufen were recovered from the suspects.

The District Police Office, Rupandehi, stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
