Koshi Tourism Festival to be held in Barahakshetra

Sunsari. On the occasion of the Koshi Province Visit Year-2082, the 'Koshi Tourism Festival' is set to be organized in Barahakshetra, Sunsari. It was announced during a press conference held on Monday that the festival, supported by the Koshi Province government, will take place from Chaitra 25 to 27.

Chairman Angat Rai stated that the festival is being organized with the objective of promoting the banks of the Saptakoshi River as a major tourist destination, as well as publicizing local religious and cultural heritage and preserving endangered arts and culture.

Co-coordinator Bhavish Shrestha mentioned that the festival will feature indigenous cultural dances and processions. Throughout the event, activities such as wildlife and bird watching at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, visits to the Ramdhuni Temple, and sunset viewing at Borabandh are planned.

In the evenings, Lakhe dance and Dhan dance will be performed. On the final day, Chaitra 27, domestic and international tourists will be taken to visit the Barahakshetra Temple. Following this, the organizers stated that activities including rafting, jet boating, ATV riding, boating, and beach sports will be conducted up to Borabandh.

The festival will see the participation of tourists and distinguished guests from various parts of Nepal, India, and other countries. The organizers have also arranged for local organic cuisine for visitors.

Keshav Phuyal, an officer at the Tourism Office in Dharan, expressed his belief that such programs will contribute to the promotion of tourism in Koshi Province and help bring the tourism potential of the Koshi riverbanks to the international market.
