Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal orders change of chair in House of Representatives

Kathmandu. Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal has changed his chair. Elected unopposed as Speaker by the House of Representatives on Sunday, Speaker Aryal presided over the session from the Speaker's chair starting Monday.

Upon taking his seat, he noticed the chair appeared different from those of other members and directed that it be replaced with one identical to the others. His directive to change the chair upon arriving to commence the session has become a topic of discussion on social media.

Federal Parliament Secretariat spokesperson and Joint Secretary Ekram Giri confirmed that Speaker Aryal had the chair changed.

'A different chair was placed during the initial decoration, and the senior-most member sat in that same chair,' spokesperson Giri told Ratopati. 'Today, the Speaker said, let us have a chair like everyone else's. Let us not make it different. It was changed accordingly.'

With this, uniform seating has been arranged for both the Speaker and the members of parliament.
