Supreme Court Concludes Hearing on Habeas Corpus Petitions of KP Sharma Oli and Ramesh Lekhak

Kathmandu. The hearing on the habeas corpus petitions filed by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak has concluded.

The hearing concluded on Monday before a bench consisting of Supreme Court Justices Binod Sharma and Sunil Kumar Pokharel. It is expected that the verdict will be delivered today.

Arguments from the legal representatives of Oli and Lekhak concluded on Sunday. Today, government attorneys from the Office of the Attorney General presented their arguments.

Both individuals were arrested by police on Chaitra 14, following the government's decision to implement the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission, which was formed to investigate the Gen-Z protest incidents. Yashoda Lekhak, on behalf of Congress leader and former Home Minister Lekhak, and Radhika Shakya, on behalf of Oli, filed the petitions on Chaitra 15, following their arrests for investigation into the Gen-Z protest incidents of Bhadau 23 and 24.
The investigation commission had recommended prosecuting them after holding them responsible for the suppression during the Gen-Z protests on Bhadau 23 and 24.
