Police Bust Theft Ring in Kirtipur Following Motorcycle Fuel Theft Arrest

Kathmandu. Police in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, have successfully apprehended a criminal gang involved in a series of thefts after arresting a youth caught stealing fuel from a motorcycle.

On Sunday night, 21-year-old Samir BK, a native of Bardiya, was caught red-handed while siphoning petrol from a motorcycle parked at a residence in Kirtipur Municipality-9. Following his arrest, police acted on information provided by him to take three additional suspects into custody and recovered a significant amount of cash and stolen goods from their rented quarters.

According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, the arrested individuals include 23-year-old Subash BK from Gulariya, Bardiya; 28-year-old Ramesh Sadashankar from Belkotgadhi, Nuwakot; and 23-year-old Sandesh Shripali from Bansgadhi, Bardiya. During a search of Samir's room, police discovered items ranging from copper statues to gold jewelry and cash.

The police team seized 56,000 rupees in cash, 40 items resembling copper statues, 15 bundles of cigarettes, and 10 mobile phones from their possession.

The recovered items also include jewelry resembling gold earrings, a necklace with red beads, two head ornaments, and silver anklets. Furthermore, police have impounded two motorcycles and 10 helmets used by the suspects or reported as stolen.

According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, further investigation into the four suspects is ongoing. Police are currently questioning them to determine the origins and timelines of the stolen goods.

This operation was carried out by a special team deployed from the Kirtipur Police Circle. Authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings for theft have been initiated against the arrested individuals.
