Controversy Erupts Over Land Leased by Home Minister Near Phewa Lake

Pokhara. Amidst the ongoing Phewa Lake conservation campaign, land in the Simle area of Pokhara Metropolitan City-22, reportedly leased by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, has come under scrutiny. The structure built on the land currently appears to be in a state of disuse.

The structure is locked and overgrown with bushes. According to locals, the land falls within the designated standards of Phewa Lake, where boundary pillars recently installed by the Pokhara Metropolitan City have also been found.

Meanwhile, as part of a campaign to remove illegal huts around Phewa Lake, the Metropolitan City began demolition work with bulldozers on Saturday morning. Home Minister Gurung has publicly addressed the issue, claiming he was defrauded and stating that he will seek legal recourse.
