Actor Sagar Lamsal 'Bale' Faces Career Crisis Following Rape Allegations

Kathmandu. Actor Sagar Lamsal 'Bale' finds his 17-year career at a critical juncture following a social media post. Currently in police custody after a woman living in the United States accused him of rape via Facebook, Sagar expressed deep anguish, stating that his decade-long reputation has been destroyed in an instant.

Director Raju Giri, who visited Sagar in custody, reported that the actor broke down in tears while reflecting on his current situation and damaged image. Expressing his pain, Sagar told Director Giri, 'Brother, my 17 years of hard work vanished in 17 seconds.' Seeing Sagar weep over the loss of nearly two decades of struggle left the director stunned. Giri remarked, 'I could not hold back my tears seeing his condition. I comforted him by saying that the truth will prevail.'

An interesting aspect of this case is that no formal complaint has been filed with the police against Sagar to date. The police arrested him based solely on a social media post. Due to the lack of a formal complaint, Kathmandu Chief District Officer Ishworraj Paudel has granted a 5-day remand for investigation into public order offenses rather than rape charges.

Director Raju Giri has questioned the police's proactive stance and the one-sided legal practice regarding a year-old incident without a formal complaint. 'Are rape charges only applicable to men, and can women say whatever they want?' he added, 'The guilty should be punished severely, but one cannot be treated like a criminal without being proven guilty.'

The social media post has dealt a major blow to Sagar's professional life. He has been formally removed from the film 'Panch Pandav', which is currently under production.

Similarly, the future of the film 'Dallele Entry Maryo', in which he plays the lead role and is directed by Raju Giri, has also become uncertain.

Director Giri stated that with the lead actor embroiled in legal trouble, the film's release has become uncertain. 'Dallele Entry Maryo' is the latest film directed by Giri.
