Nepal Film Artists Association Postpones General Assembly and Election Amid Internal Dispute

Kathmandu. The Nepal Film Artists Association (FAAN) has indefinitely postponed its general assembly and election, originally scheduled for Chaitra 28, following an escalation in internal disputes. The election process has been thrown into uncertainty due to sharp disagreements among association officials regarding member renewals.

According to a statement signed by Association President Mohan Niraula, all election-related activities have been halted due to special circumstances. The situation arose primarily because the association failed to provide the certified voter list to the election committee within the statutory deadline. 

Despite repeated reminders from the election committee, the association's executive committee failed to submit the voter list, leading the committee to formally state that the process could not proceed.

The core of the dispute lies in the renewal of old members and the legitimacy of new ones. Within the executive committee, two factions have emerged regarding who should be granted voting rights and whose renewals are compliant with the rules. 

Sources claim that this internal friction has prevented the finalization of the voter list. The association has not yet disclosed when a new date will be set.
