Patient numbers surge at Provincial Ayurveda Hospital in Kailali

Kailali. The number of patients seeking treatment for various ailments at the Provincial Ayurveda Hospital in Dhangadhi has been steadily increasing.

Acting Medical Superintendent Dr. Op Prasad Kalauni stated that the rise in patient numbers follows the expansion of treatment services at the hospital.

He attributed the growth to improvements in treatment systems including Panchakarma, the expansion of OPD services, Swarna Bindu Prashan, lifestyle programs, specialized services for senior citizens, management reforms, and pro-poor service policies.

According to Dr. Kalauni, there has been a 40 percent increase in service users in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2082/83 compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. While 16,380 people received services in the first six months of the last fiscal year, 22,916 patients have been served during the same period this year.

The number of children under five years of age has seen a significant increase. Compared to 62 children served in the first six months of the last fiscal year, 206 children have received services in the same period this year. Dr. Kalauni explained that Swarna Bindu Prashan is focused on enhancing immunity, cognitive development, and overall health in children.

The number of senior citizens has also increased by 36.8 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. The hospital reported that along with service expansion, fee exemptions have also been increased. While a total of Rs 130,075 was provided in exemptions last fiscal year, the amount has reached Rs 974,285 in the current fiscal year.

Dr. Kalauni noted that senior citizens over 60 receive a 50 percent discount on service fees, while those over 70 receive a 100 percent exemption.

According to him, the number of laboratory service users has increased by 37.7 percent, and revenue has grown by 126 percent due to the expansion of services with modern equipment.

The hospital currently provides services including Homeopathy, Pathology, Lab, X-ray, Purvakarma, Panchakarma, Shirodhara, and Ksharsutra treatment for piles, fissures, and fistulas.

Currently, Sudurpashchim Province operates one Provincial Ayurveda Hospital, seven District Ayurveda Health Centers, one Mahakali Ayurveda Dispensary, 42 Ayurveda Dispensaries, and 33 Citizen Health Service Centers.
