Lawmakers demand to open Nepal-China border

Kathmandu - Three lawmakers representing Dolakha district have demanded that Lamabagar-Lapchi-Lumnan, Thasing-Jhakhigankun entry points with China from Lamabagar of the district be opened.

Lawmakers Pashupati Chaulagain, Ananda Prasad Pokharel and Parbat Gurung on Thursday submitted a memo to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara in this regard.

The memo incorporates the demands including opening the road linking China from Lamabagar as it would be only 46-kilometres long to Kathmandu while it could also lead to a 220 km road way to India through Sindhuli-Bardibas-Jalesway roadway.

Lawmaker Pokharel said that they submitted the memo to put forth the demands to open the check point and road construction with priority before the Vice Premier of China during his Nepal visit.

On the occasion, DPM Mahara said that he would take up the matter seriously and expressed commitment to put forth the issue with priority during Nepal-visit of the Chinese VP.

Meanwhile, the three lawmakers also submitted the memo at the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ministry today itself.
