NCP Coordinator Prachanda Proposes Unity General Convention Within Six Months

Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (NCP) coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has proposed holding a unity general convention within the next six months. Prachanda presented the proposal regarding the general convention during the first meeting of the Central Coordination Committee held at the party's central office in Parisdanda on Thursday.

In point number 13 of the report obtained by Ratopati, he has presented the future action plan in a point-wise manner. In the 10-page report titled 'General Review of the House of Representatives Member Election 2082', Prachanda stated, 'The party must immediately move forward by creating a concrete action plan for organizational, ideological, economic, and technical work. A campaign for the reorganization and transformation of the party must be conducted extensively.'

For this purpose, he has proposed a 10-point concrete action plan related to organizational adjustment and construction, renewal of party membership and conventions, organization of the unity general convention, leadership reorganization and transformation, training campaigns, effective creative opposition, mobilization at the provincial and local levels, development of technical capacity, and improvement in work style and conduct.

The review concludes that the main reasons for the party's defeat in the election are both internal and external. Internal reasons include the lack of socio-economic transformation after the revolution, lack of organizational adjustment, lack of ideological work, youth not being involved in the party, leftist forces not being united, inability to explain the importance of change, lack of publicity for work done, gap between theory and practice, opportunistic tendencies and individualistic work styles, lack of technical manpower and resources, and inability to present as an alternative.

NCP's conclusion that the election was lost due to two main reasons

External reasons include anti-old party campaigns, attacks on leftist forces, geopolitical and external power center maneuvering, digital tsunami, propaganda and attacks by populist forces, and the role of Nepalis living abroad.

Leader Jagannath Khatiwada informed that since the report has been distributed to members for study, continuous discussions will be held starting from Chaitra 23.

'The coordinator presented a report on election review in the meeting. It has been distributed to members for study. There will be continuous debate from Monday. Today's meeting has passed the proposal regarding unity and adjustment, the general convention, and the future action plan,' he said.

Since it is necessary to reorganize and adjust the party's mass organizations in a new way, a proposal has been made to complete the adjustment down to the municipal level within one month.
