Preparations for Bhaktapur's Biska Jatra in Full Swing

Kathmandu. Preparations for Bhaktapur's famous 'Biska Jatra', which begins on Chaitra 27, are progressing rapidly. The construction of the chariot for Shri Bhairavnath is currently underway. 

Local artisans are currently engaged in building the approximately 35-foot-tall, three-story pagoda-style wooden chariot of Shri Bhairavnath, following traditional tantric methods.

Celebrated for 8 nights and 9 days, this festival is one of the oldest traditional cultural festivals in the Kathmandu Valley. The festival begins on the first day, Chaitra 27, by pulling the chariots of Shri Bhairavnath and Shri Bhadrakali.
