HPV Vaccination Campaign Launched for Adolescent Girls in Mustang

Mustang. A Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign targeting 194 adolescent girls has been launched across all five local levels of the district to prevent cervical cancer.

The vaccination drive has commenced for female students in grade 6 across 16 community and two institutional schools. Senior Public Health Officer at the Provincial Health Office, Bidya Tamang, stated that the campaign also includes girls under 10 years of age who are out of school, as well as those who missed the HPV vaccine last year.

According to Tamang, the schedule includes vaccinating 163 students in grade 6, three girls under 10 years of age who are out of school, and 28 girls who missed the dose last year.

Under the campaign, vaccinations began today in Gharapjhong and Baragung Muktichhetra Rural Municipalities. Health Coordinator Karna Bahadur Thakali informed that the HPV vaccination program is scheduled for March 22 and 23 in Baragung Muktichhetra, March 19 in Thasang Rural Municipality, and March 28 in Loghekar Damodarkunda Rural Municipality.
