Nepali Congress Factions Hold Congratulatory Event Amid Legal Challenge

Kathmandu. The faction led by acting working president Purna Bahadur Khadka and the Shekhar faction organized a congratulatory program on Monday for the members elected to the House of Representatives and the National Assembly from the Nepali Congress. Leaders are currently arriving at the event.

The group has also called a Central Working Committee meeting. Laxmi Khatiwada, a member of the outgoing Central Working Committee, informed that the meeting of the Central Committee, formed from the 14th General Convention, has been called for Tuesday at the Smart Hotel in Maharajgunj.

Central committee members stated that the Chief Secretary of the outgoing Nepali Congress Central Office, Krishna Prasad Paudel, has been informing leaders via telephone to attend the meeting.

The meeting will discuss contemporary politics and the writ filed by them in the Supreme Court. The hearing for the writ filed in the Supreme Court is scheduled for Chaitra 22.

The Deuba-Shekhar faction, which filed a writ in the Supreme Court against the new leadership elected by the Special General Convention held last Poush after the Election Commission granted them official recognition, has started parallel activities. Khadka initiated parallel activities by issuing a statement in his capacity as acting president after former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak was arrested.
