Landslide Blocks Mechi Highway in Eastern Nepal

Jhapa. The Mechi Highway has been completely obstructed after a landslide occurred on the road section at Bakhor, Rong Rural Municipality-4, Ilam.

Chandra Raut, chief of the Area Police Office, Budhabare, informed that the highway was blocked following a sudden landslide this evening. He stated that a truck, registration number Province 1-01-001 Kha 4334, carrying boulders from Taplejung towards Jhapa, got stranded due to the obstruction.

Police reported that there were no human casualties in the incident and efforts are underway to clear the debris and reopen the road.
