US Casualties Mount as Iran Conflict Escalates; American Troop Presence Surges in Middle East

Kathmandu. The number of American soldiers wounded in the ongoing conflict with Iran has surpassed 300, signaling a further intensification of the conflict.

Recently, Iran reportedly attacked a key airport in Saudi Arabia using six ballistic missiles and 29 drones. At least 15 American soldiers were injured in that attack, with 5 in critical condition. Soldiers had been wounded in previous attacks in the same area, and some military equipment was damaged.

Meanwhile, the United States has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East. A large warship carrying approximately 2,500 Marines has arrived there, and additional warships and military units have been dispatched. Currently, about 50,000 US troops, two aircraft carriers, and various warships are deployed in the region, marking the largest military presence in the last two decades.

One month has passed since this war began. So far, 13 American soldiers have lost their lives. Some of these soldiers died in drone attacks, while others were killed in plane crashes. Hundreds of soldiers have been wounded, many of whom have returned to duty after treatment, while some are still undergoing treatment.

Iran has been targeting the US and its allied countries in response to attacks. Iran has maintained tight control over the Strait of Hormuz, significantly impacting the global oil supply system. This has caused fuel prices to rise sharply in the international market, negatively affecting the global economy. Furthermore, the disruption of air travel has also caused problems for passenger movement.

There is growing pressure on the US leadership to end this conflict. The US has stated that both diplomatic and military options remain open and has indicated it may take further action if necessary. However, Iran has stated it has not participated in any talks so far, making the possibility of a swift end to the war uncertain.
