Milan Rai and Sunsari Rokaya Clinch Victories in Budhanilkantha-Shivapuri Open Trail Race

Kathmandu. Milan Rai and Sunsari Rokaya secured first place in the Budhanilkantha-Shivapuri Open Trail Race on Saturday. Milan won the men's 15-kilometer race, while Sunsari topped the women's category.

In the race organized by Ward 3 of Budhanilkantha Municipality with the objective of promoting domestic tourism, Milan completed the designated distance in 1 hour 35 minutes and 46 seconds. Pratap Thamsuhang (1 hour 36 minutes 04 seconds) came in second, and Karan Rawal (1 hour 36 minutes 46 seconds) finished third. Lokendra Rai was fourth and Bishal Rai was fifth.

Sunsari took 1 hour 58 minutes and 04 seconds to complete the distance. Rajyalaxmi Rawal (2 hours 02 minutes 07 seconds) was second, and Geeta Nepali (2 hours 10 minutes 22 seconds) was third. Ashma Bik finished fourth, and Manju Sunuwar finished fifth.

The top three finishers in both categories received cash prizes of NPR 40,000, NPR 25,000, and NPR 15,000, respectively. Athletes who finished in fourth and fifth place in both categories were awarded a uniform cash prize of NPR 5,000 each.

The winners were awarded by Ward 3 Chairman Akash Dhital, Olympian runner Santoshi Shrestha, and others in a ceremony.

The competition saw a participation of 240 runners, informed Development Tamang, a member of Ward 3 who also served as the competition coordinator. The race started from the Budhanilkantha Temple premises, circled various areas, and concluded back at the Budhanilkantha Temple premises.
