Nepal Police Ordered to High Alert Following New Home Minister's Security Meeting

Kathmandu. Immediately following a discussion between the newly appointed Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and security chiefs, the Nepal Police Headquarters has directed all police personnel to remain on high alert.

According to high-level sources, the Police Headquarters in Naxal issued an internal circular instructing police personnel, from Constable to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), to remain on 'standby' in uniform. Sources indicate that everyone has been instructed to be ready from 7:00 AM.

Immediately after assuming office today (Friday) evening, Home Minister Gurung held a lengthy discussion of about an hour and a half with the Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dan Bahadur Karki, and the Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Raju Aryal.

The newly formed Council of Ministers, which convened today, also decided to implement the report submitted by the commission led by Gauribahadur Karki.
